Membership of the Council
If you have found the information on our Website interesting and would like to learn more about becoming a Councillor, here is a brief explanation of the process.
Elections are held every four years, the last one having taken place in May 2003 and councillors serve for four years, starting with the date of the election. Notices are posted prior to the election inviting nominations from interested people and a nomination form is completed and returned to Wealden District Council.
However, casual vacancies can arise if a councillor resigns before the end of the four-year term. These vacancies are publicised in a number of ways, including posting of notices on notice-boards in the parish and in the Parish Council Office window, articles in the local press and on the Website.
You do not need any particular qualifications but do need to be able to attend evening meetings - see our Diary of Meetings for the up-to-date timetable. If you would like more information, please contact the Clerk on 01435 865700 or respond using the website contact form.
