Winter 2011 – Issue No 43

LAND AT THEOBALDS GREEN – We finally obtained planning permission towards the end of November, but a number of Conditions were imposed which will need to be met before work can commence, including a wildlife management plan, landscape proposals, details of materials to be used and the type of stone to be used for memorials and we are working with Wealden District Council to address these issues.

Early in the New Year a meeting will be arranged with all those who expressed an interest in being part of the
Allotments Association, so that a Committee can be appointed and draft terms of agreement prepared.

NEW OFFICE (73 High Street, Heathfield) – The sharp-eyed amongst you will have noticed that works are progressing well on the new office and our smart new shopfront is already in place, which will have a push button electric opening facility. The new premises will provide better facilities for all our visitors, including those who are
disabled and it is hoped that we will be moved in by the end of January 2012.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW COUNCILLOR – At the September meeting, Elizabeth
Mackie was co-opted onto the Council. Her contact details can be found overleaf and she will be pleased to hear from you if you wish to make any comments or raise any matters of concern.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Just a reminder that meetings of the full Council and Committee meetings are open to members of the public and there is always an opportunity to talk to Members about matters on the agenda or general
matters of concern. Agendas are posted in the office window and agendas and minutes are available for download from
our website, www.hwpc.org.uk.

BUS SERVICE – NEW YEAR’S DAY– There will be no regular bus services on this day. However, Cuckmere Community Bus will operate a new service 50 for one day only between Heathfield and Eastbourne, via Hailsham and Polegate.
Timetables are available from the Parish Council office.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS – A very big thank you to Cross-in-Hand CP
School, who decorated the office window for us this year. If you have not already done so, please make
a point of looking at the beautiful paintings which the children have
done. We would also like to say a huge
thank you to our Contractors, C and E Davis Limited who provided and decorated
the Christmas tree outside the office.
